Hi! I’m Katie Mann, M. Ed., the owner of Evergreen Reading. I’m a mom of two young boys and we recently moved our family to a small town in Maine to enjoy a slower pace of life.
During my 18 years in education, I have worked as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, and reading specialist. I earned my Master’s Degree in Reading in 2014 and worked as a Licensed Reading Specialist for the past 10 years. I completed the 30 hour Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Plus training through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE). In addition, I completed a 12 month WRS Level I Certification and earned the credential as a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner (W.D.P.). Both the IMSE Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Reading System are accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).
I have heard countless parents share their struggles with getting their child to read. Completing homework is a nightmare. Forget about doing nightly reading! Even getting their child to school each morning is a struggle. Kids are smart - these avoidance tactics are usually a coping strategy when reading is challenging.
I am passionate about learning the most I can about how the brain learns to read. With these specific brain-friendly strategies, I see AMAZING results with my students.
